Switchable adhesion between hydrogels by wrinkling

چکیده

On-demand adhere to and detach from soft wet surfaces are crucial for hydrogels applications in tissue engineering, machines, robotics. Whereas strong adhesion has been achieved between hydrogels, on-demand switching weak benign detachment is still under explorations. Herein, we report an approach switchable by invoking a mechanical process, wrinkling. The demonstrated bonding two hydrogel adherends with wrinkled adhesive, the formation characterizations of wrinkles tailored regulating prestretch adherend optimizing ingredients adhesive synergistically. On one hand, enhances creating tortuous path crack propagation extended energy dissipation zone. resulting robust elicit bulk within transform once failure cohesive failure. other suppression deactivates enhancement mechanism facilitate effortless debonding. As proof-of-concept, patch that can strongly damaged device repair gently after repairing, based on adhesion, demonstrated. proposed method expands design space adhesion.

Capillarity-based switchable adhesion.

Drawing inspiration from the adhesion abilities of a leaf beetle found in nature, we have engineered a switchable adhesion device. The device combines two concepts: The surface tension force from a large number of small liquid bridges can be significant (capillarity-based adhesion) and these contacts can be quickly made or broken with electronic control (switchable). The device grabs or release...

Graphene blisters with switchable shapes controlled by pressure and adhesion.

We created graphene blisters that cover and seal an annular cylinder-shaped microcavity in a SiO2 substrate filled with a gas. By controlling the pressure difference between the gas inside and outside of the microcavity, we switch the graphene membrane between multiple stable equilibrium configurations. We carried out experiments starting from the situation where the pressure of the gas inside ...

pH-responsive and switchable triplex-based DNA hydrogels.

New methods for the preparation of reversible pH-responsive DNA hydrogels based on Hoogsteen triplex structures are described. One system consists of a hydrogel composed of duplex DNA units that bridge acrylamide chains at pH = 7.4 and undergoes dissolution at pH = 5.0 through the reconfiguration of one of the duplex bridging units into a protonated CG·C+ triplex structure. The second system co...

Rapid fabrication of reconstructible hydrogels by electrophoretic microbead adhesion.

Hydrogel constructs were rapidly fabricated via the electrophoretic adhesion of oppositely charged microbeads. The reversible preparation of hydrogel constructs was achieved by the reconstruction of microbead networks.

Temperature-Induced Switchable Adhesion using Nickel–Titanium–Polydimethylsiloxane Hybrid Surfaces

A switchable dry adhesive based on a nickel-titanium (NiTi) shape-memory alloy with an adhesive silicone rubber surface has been developed. Although several studies investigate micropatterned, bioinspired adhesive surfaces, very few focus on reversible adhesion. The system here is based on the indentation-induced two-way shape-memory effect in NiTi alloys. NiTi is trained by mechanical deformat...
